Yes, I am licensed by the State of Indiana as a Massage Therapist and Board Certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).
Additionally, I am also a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) and American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).
The State of Indiana requires that all Licensed Massage Therapists complete continuing education hours to renew their license. The States of North Carolina and Tennessee, where I hold licensure to practices as a massage therapist, also require continuing education hours for renewal. To maintain my continuing education hours, I participate in various learning opportunities throughout the year to enhance my skills.
I hold a life coach and health coach certification, through Aspen Wellness and IIN, respectively. Additionally, I am a RYT200 Yoga teacher, having attending training at Prana Yoga in Fort Wayne, IN.
You will talk with the massage therapist to discuss your goals for massage. Your therapist will ask you to complete intake questionnaire and consent for treatment. Once goals have been established, the therapist will instruct you to get on the massage table for treatment. During the treatment, the only areas of your body that will be exposed are the areas being worked on at that time. At Daybreak Therapeutics, we will use hot towels on your feet, a warm neck wrap and eye pillow, and you will choose the type of lotion or oil used during the service.
While showering right before the service is not required, ensuring that you are clean and free from any fragranced personal care products is important.
Your comfort level and the type of massage you will be receiving determine what clothing is needed during the service. Modalities like Reiki and Craniosacral do no require any clothing to be removed for the service. Sports or Thai Massage will typically ask the client to be in sports apparel or sports bra/shorts, clothing that is comfortable for stretching.
Therapeutic massage, deep tissues, warm bamboo, and other massage modalities, clients may choose to get on the table without any clothing or at their comfort level.
Remember, this is your session and time. If the pressure or any other aspect of the massage is uncomfortable or not meeting your expectations, let your therapist know. The quality of the massage is dependent upon communication from you about how the pressure feels, the comfort of the table, or other aspects related to your specific service.
As a therapist, your feedback is essential to the quality of the massage. Any feedback given is not viewed as a complaint, it is an opportunity to communicate what is working well and what isn’t. Different areas of the body can handle more pressure than others, so communicating to your therapist is essential so they can adapt pressure to provide you with an exceptional massage.
Yes, it is ok. But the greatest benefits from massage are when you allow yourself the opportunity to relax. This will also help your massage therapist focus on providing a great massage.
Definitely communicate with the therapist if you have any discomfort or pain, if there are questions or concerns during the session, or if the massage therapist can do anything to make you more comfortable.
If you are already feeling unwell, a massage may make you feel worse. There is also the potential of passing along your illness to the therapist, who will be seeing other clients that same day. Please notify us as soon as possible, we will work to help get you rescheduled for when you are feeling better.
It is important for you to complete your health history on the client intake form fully and inform your therapist of any updates or changes in your health or condition. Ideally, giving yourself additional time afterward to relax is wonderful. Hydration, nutrition, and rest are all great ideas post massage. You may want to take a slow walk in your community, or eat a light meal.
There isn’t a reason you can’t exercise following your massage, but the relaxation achieved during the massage will not last if strenuous exercise is started right after your session.
Most likely, the therapist will take this as a compliment. Helping clients achieve a relaxed state is one of our main goals. No need to be embarrassed, this is natural and shows that you have had a restful experience.
Whatever you need during the session, let the therapist know. If you need to go to the restroom, we will provide you with a robe, leave the room so you can put a robe on, and give you time to go to the restroom. If you need a tissue for any eye or nasal reason, we have boxes of Kleenex around the room and will happily had you a tissue if needed. You don’t need to hold the dirty tissue until the session is over, the therapist will have a clean tissue in their hand for you to place the used tissue in, so they can dispose. If there is an itch, address it as needed.

In USA, we prefer to be called Massage Therapist. While the word “masseuse” is used in other countries, in the US, there has been negativity when using that word. Society generally uses masseuse for those that perform illegal practices in massage, while massage therapist demonstrates an advanced working knowledge, and ongoing training in the filed of massage.
